The Smoking Cessation Database is an offer for smoking cessation units who wish to have an external evaluation and documentation of their activities. The database is used by smoking cessation units from all over Denmark and some places in Sweden. The signed on units are primarily pharmacies, municipalities, hospitalwards and midwives but also general practioners, dentists and other private cessations operators have signed on.
The Smoking Cessation Database started in 1999 as a research project and have been operational since 2001, gathering information on smoking cessation interventions. The database is under constant development to serve as a quality database that can be used by all interested parties. Overall results from the database are there for made public on the home page
Registration of data
At any time, all signed on units are able to draw a report with their own data from the Smoking Cessation Database online self-service registration application. Furthermore, the units have access to their own raw data - also from the self-service application. At least once a year, the secretariat will publish an online report.
Who can join?
All organisations and people providing systematic smoking cessation interventions can sign up with the Smoking Cessation Database and have their data registered in the database. Signed on units commit to registering their data online and to do follow-ups by telephone on the smoking status of all participants 6 months after ended intervention. It is possible to purchase assistance with the registration of data from the Secretariat of the Smoking Cessation Database.
